Selfridges makes record sales in one hour
Selfridges made more than £2 million in its most profitable hour in 100 years on Boxing Day as thousands flocked its flagship Oxford Street store.
Twenty two million shoppers hit the sales on Boxing Day, spending around £3.5 billion.
Sainsbury’s pharmacy sale under scanner
The Competition and Markets Authority has launched a probe into the sale of Sainsbury’s 277 pharmacies to Celesio, the owner of Lloyds Pharmacy.
There were concerns that the deal might affect customers in 78 local areas and these doubts have not been reduced by Celesio so far. The £125m deal was announced in July.
