Walmart plots 7,000 accounting job cuts in US stores
Walmart is considering slashing 7,000 back-office and accounting jobs in its US stores after it trialled a new accounting system this summer, BBC News reported.
A Walmart official said staff affected by these changes, which are set to implemented over the rest of this year and into 2017, would have the option of switching into jobs serving customers if they wish to continue.
"This is about simplifying how stores work, there are a number of initiatives that are designed to get more associates in front of our customers," said a representative for the retailer.
Italian shoe brand Casadei to open first UK store in Mayfair
Italian luxury shoe designer Casadei is set to debut in the UK with a shop in London's Mayfair, according to the Evening Standard.
The high-heels brand, donned by celebrities such as Katy Perry, is poised to open a store at 48 Albemarle Street before the end of this year, following a lease agreement with landlord Trophaeum.
Trophaeum director Matt Farrell, who oversees the management of The Albemarle Estate, said: “Our leasing activity on Albemarle Street has gone from strength to strength, unfazed by Brexit, as we continue to attract world-class luxury brands, restaurateurs and art galleries on to the estate."
