Sales at John Lewis department stores surged 15.6% to £99.6m last week, when all its main categories recorded strong performances.
John Lewis recorded double-digit sales growth every day bar one in the period to January 9.
Online sales climbed 25.8% and many stores, including London’s Stratford City and York, also notched up double-digit percentage growth.
Electricals and home technology was the strongest category, delivering an 18.8% sales uplift.
Fashion revenues advanced 15.4% and sales of home goods were up 13.3%.
At grocery stablemate Waitrose sales rose 3.3% over the week to £123.7m, helped by a half-price promotion.
Waitrose commercial director Mark Williamson said: “Healthy New Year resolutions and compelling promotions helped deliver strong growth.”
