National Geographic is relocating its London flagship store from Regent Street to Knightsbridge.
The company will open the smaller 372 sq mt store at 102a Brompton Road, Knightsbridge in December. Its existing store on Regent Street covers 1,800 sq mt.
In May Retail Week revealed that National Geographic was to exit its store to make way for Hollister. It will be the young fashion retailer’s first central London store.
National Geographic said the Knightsbridge store, which opens “soon”, will combine the best of its Regent Street merchandise and features, including the National Geographic Café and exhibition space.
Ignacio Lecanda, chairperson of Worldwide Retail Store S.L, which holds the exclusive retail license for National Geographic, said: “We’re grateful for the attention the National Geographic Store has garnered in its Regent Street location over the last three years.
“During this time, the National Geographic Store has recorded very high footfall.
“We think this new location is a terrific fit for our brand, with its proximity to the Royal Geographic Society, the Natural History Museum, Science Museum and other important landmarks, and the store will benefit from Knightsbridge’s strong customer draw.
“One of our most popular features at the National Geographic Store is our Café, which has become a popular meeting spot for Londoners and tourists alike. This new space will give us more flexibility in expanding the Café and event space.”
The new National Geographic Store will stock all of National Geographic’s best-selling key product lines, including apparel, travel accessories and travel guides, toys, books, maps and globes.
