Ex-Waitrose managing director Lord Mark Price has launched an online bookstore which he hopes to turn into a “Netflix for business”.
Price, who left Waitrose in 2015, has unveiled the Business Library on his Engaging Works platform. He established Engaging Works in 2017 to “enable individuals and businesses be happier, healthier and more successful” at work.
The new bookshop gives users access to approximately 80,000 titles including e-books and audio books as well as paper editions. Price has worked with Gardners, the UK’s biggest books wholesaler, on the store.
Price said: “I’m thrilled to be able to launch our Business Library or, as I like to call it, Netflix for business. I’ve built this to help people find and share useful content, self-promote, learn and develop. It complements our other services to help individuals get the most from their working lives.”
Price, also previously deputy chair of Waitrose parent the John Lewis Partnership and minister of state for trade and investment, said that the site will also allow users to create and publish their own content, enabling them to share articles, videos, tutorials and podcasts with the 250 businesses and thousands of individuals who use the service.
The launch of the bookstore coincides with the publication of Price’s own new books, ‘Six steps to engaged employees’ and ‘Six steps to customer happiness’.
