Gymshark has appointed The Very Group’s chief marketing officer Carly O’Brien to drive its brand marketing strategy.
O’Brien, who has worked at The Very Group for three years, will act as vice-president of marketing for Gymshark and report to the etailer’s international president Niran Chana.
Her remit will include driving Gymshark’s UK and international growth and brand awareness, as well as embedding a new regionalised marketing strategy to make Gymshark a household name.
O’Brien, who has previously held senior roles at businesses including MBNA, Virgin Money and RBS, is the latest in a series of senior appointments at Gymshark, including former Lululemon executive Danielle Petesic as chief product officer and Burberry’s John Douglas as chief technology officer.
Chana said: “Carly’s track record speaks for itself. She is a hugely astute marketer with incredible experience in some of the most dynamic companies in the UK. Wherever she has been before, she has had a huge impact and I’ve no doubt it will be no different at Gymshark.
“She will add a brilliant new dimension to the team and will undoubtedly help us grow a loyal and engaged customer base.”
O’Brien added: “The opportunity to bring the marketing team together in the international group, explore all the opportunities to build more brand awareness and be part of the Gymshark journey to build an iconic brand is both bold and exciting. I’m thrilled I get to be part of that story and I can’t wait to get started.”
