UPDATED: Value fashion giant Primark has denied reports that it is to launch a transactional website.

Primark was this morning reported to have put out a tender for a digital agency to build its first ecommerce site which would launch in 2012.

However, a Primark spokesman said it had no plans to launch a transactional website and no tender had gone out.

Primark, owned Associated British Foods, is one of the few big fashion players not to sell goods online as it focuses on high street sales. The online retail market was worth £58.8bn in the UK last year according to the IMRG.
