Primark is to pay compensation to the victims of the Bangladesh factory it used which collapsed last week killing at least 380 people.
The retailer also urged other retailers to who used suppliers in the building, near Dhaka, which collapsed on Wednesday last week, to do likewise.
It said: “Primark notes the fact that its supplier shared the building with those of other retailers. We are fully aware of our responsibility. We urge these other retailers to come forward and offer assistance.”
The value fashion retailer said the pay-out will include long term aid for children who lost parents and financial aid to those injured.
Primark said that it had partnered with a local NGO to address the immediate needs of victims, including the provision of emergency food to families.
It said that it will review its commitments constantly to ensure they meet the needs of the victims as the tragedy unfolds.
