Apple iPad global sales have hit 2 million since the tablet launched two months ago, exceeding recent figures for its Mac laptop and desktop computers.
Apple released figures yesterday, three days after going on sale in the UK, Germany, Japan, as well as six other countries.
In the quarter ending in March, on average Apple sold just less than 1 million Macs a month.
Last week DSGi revealed it had signed a deal with Apple to stock the highly anticipated iPad at 139 PC World and Currys stores from its UK launch on Friday.
The move gave the electricals retailer a distinct advantage over many of its competitors, giving it a 60-day window to selll the iPad ahead of rivals such as Argos, Comet, Tesco, John Lewis, and the Carphone Warehouse.
