Selfridges London is to “turn pink” in honour of the upcoming release of Barbie: The Movie.
Selfridges London is putting on a raft of activations to celebrate the launch of the Barbie movie, including recreations of iconic scenes and real costumes from the movie.
The retailer’s front windows will recreate the movie’s disco scene, featuring Margot Robbie and Ryan Gosling’s jumpsuits, as well as Barbie’s dressing room scene along with Robbie’s pink-and-white gingham dress and two-piece skirt suit on display.
The activation means the Oxford Street store is the only location movie fans can see real costumes from the film in the UK.
Described by Selfridges as a “fully immersive joyride into the world of Barbie”, The Corner Shop at Selfridges will feature Barbie Dream Wardrobe Rental with looks from the doll’s 65-year history curated by stylist and art director Theo White.
There will also be curated ‘edits’ inspired by Barbie’s 250+ careers, blended with ‘Barbiecore’ looks that the doll may wear today.
Customers will also be able to book Barbie-inspired makeup, hair and nail services, as well as shop for official movie merchandise.
Elsewhere in store, the Toy Shop will feature a Barbie pop-up and the Cinema at Selfridges will show back-to-back screenings of the film.
Selfridges Trafford is also hosting a Barbie pop-up with dolls from the movie and other merchandise, while Selfridges Birmingham’s pop-up begins on July 17.
