Amazon has expanded its same-day delivery service to more than 80 towns and cities across the UK.
The business has expanded its same-day delivery service to locations including Middlesborough, Aberdeen and Plymouth. It comes after Amazon reported that the number of items being ordered by customers for same-day delivery has more than doubled since 2023.
The announcement follows the most recent edition of the giant’s Prime Day Sales period, in which Amazon said some of the most popular items amongst members included: plastic-free water wipes in London, Amazon Fire TV Sticks in Manchester, ink cartridges in Swansea, and hydrating serum in Nottingham.
Amazon said the latest an order was placed and delivered on the same day this year was for a customer in Leeds who “ordered silicone chocolate bar moulds and pistachio spread at 8.30pm and had them before 10pm”.
Earlier in the year, Amazon said it had invested “more than €700m (£582.3m) in robotics and AI-powered technology in its European fulfilment centre network between 2019 and the end of 2024 to enhance the customer and employee experience”.
