Tesco has struck a deal with Blockbuster to install DVD and video vending machines in four stores.
Hammersmith, Guildford, Borehamwood and Aylesbury will be the first Tesco shops to feature the machines, which can hold up to 200 films. Another three stores will receive machines in September.
Blockbuster UK managing director Alex Sparks said: 'Installing vending machines will mean that more people can rent a movie when they buy their weekly shopping.'
A Tesco spokesman said: 'Many of our shoppers think convenience is king. By trialling Blockbuster machines, we will see if they are a box-office hit.'
The arrangement follows a similar venture last year between Blockbuster and Sainsbury's, which allowed the video retailer to open concessions in Sainsbury's stores.
Sainsbury's will have 12 concessions by the end of the year.
