Upmarket grocer Waitrose is asking customers to record themselves singing for the chance to star in its Christmas advert.
The retailer has called on shoppers and staff to ‘Donate Your Voice’ and sing Dolly Parton’s ‘Try’ for its festive campaign. The resulting single will be sold in Waitrose and proceeds will go to three charities.
Waitrose claims this is the first time a Christmas TV advert will use a soundtrack created by the public.
People will be able to upload their singing for inclusion in the ad via waitrose.com/donateyourvoice. Waitrose is also asking some famous names and choir groups to get involved.
The track is being mixed by a Mercury Music Prize-nominated producer.
