Halfords has enhanced its mobile site by making it transactional to give customers a better multichannel experience.
The site, which went live in August, now gives customers the ability to pay for orders via their mobile phone. Customers can choose to pay by credit or debit card or PayPal, the same payment methods supported by Halfords.com.
The transactional site, developed by Salmon, will also have the same delivery options as the Halfords.com site to give the mobile site up to the capabilities of the website. Customers can choose from home or work delivery, click and collect or reserve and collect, as well as search for products, read customer reviews, compare products, and find their nearest store with stock.
Halfords head of multichannel Chris Corbin said: “More and more of our customers are accessing our site via mobile and we want them to have the same experience as they have from a computer. Smartphones point to how trends in shopping habits are changing fast.”
Since the launch of the mobile site, the retailer has seen mobile visitor numbers increase to 8% of Halfords’ dotcom total and conversion levels double.
