John Lewis has revealed that sales in the week so far have continued to rise as shoppers flock to the department store in the run-up to Christmas.
Sales from Sunday to Wednesday rose 15.2% year-on-year and 10% on the same four days last week.
Nat Wakely, director of selling operations, said: “After last week’s record for John Lewis department stores as a whole as well as another online record, this week also began very strongly as our online business passed the sales milestone of £300m for the year to date on Sunday. We followed this up by having our biggest ever day online on Monday with sales an impressive 35% up on last year. This week is also due to be a record breaker online as we continue to focus on delivering a compelling site for our customers.
“In our shops, we are also having an incredible week. All bar one shop are in the increases, most with double-digit growth, and with Oxford Street up 27%, Trafford up 26, Liverpool, up 21% and Welwyn up 20% - the top performers for the week to date - we are seeing consistent growth across the country for John Lewis.”
