Variety store Hub, set up by Poundland co-founder Dave Dodd, has implemented an EPoS system that will support its expansion.
The web-based system, created by ecommerce supplier Cybertill, will launch in all stores to provide Hub with real-time data, including sales and stock information.
Dodd said that the scalability of the system suited Hub’s expansion plans. He said: “This system means that we are not constrained by hardware or infrastructure when we expand.”
Dodd added that as a large format variety store, instant access to sales and stock information would ensure accurate stock fulfilment.
Access to real-time data also gives Hub the flexibility to tailor promotions in-store, according to Dodd, who added: “Using Cybertill’s system, we can tailor promotions quickly to a particular time-slot and possibly different promotions for each store.”
Two Hub stores are planned for this year, with the first opening in Telford at the end of August and the second in the Arndale Centre, Manchester. The overall target is for 200 shops.
Hub promises “variety, quality and value in a contemporary environment” and aims to plug the variety store gap left by Woolworths.
