Klarna has unveiled plans to extend its ‘buy now, pay later’ scheme to in-store payments.
The global payments provider, whose retail partners include JD Sports, Topshop and Moss Bross, will allow shoppers buying in-store with their smartphone to select payment options including deferring payment for up to 30 days or paying in three monthly instalments.
Shoppers will be able to access the payment technology at the till either by scanning a QR code or opening a payment link sent to their smartphone by email or SMS and selecting their preferred payment option.
The payment providers’ credit applications are completed in one minute on average, which Klarna says will “increases conversion and sales for the merchant” in-store.
Klarna UK general manager Luke Griffiths said: “Shoppers today want more control over their buying experience.
“Our mission is to make payments as seamless and stress-free as possible. We’re now bringing more payment flexibility to the in-store environment, so shoppers can move smoothly through the purchase journey, whether they choose to shop online or on the high street.”
