Asos has hired Simon Platts from outdoors retailers Blacks and Millets as sourcing director.
Platts has been head of buying at the outdoor retailers, which are owned by JD Sports, since February last year. He joined the etailer last week.
Sourcing is becoming increasingly important to Asos as it aims to make the business as it looks to make the business as efficient as possible. Gaining efficiencies in buying and sourcing was understood to be a key part of Kate Bostock’s role, which she departed in July after six months at the business.
Platts learned his trade at Next. He spent 18 years at the fashion giant from 1986.
Flint Hyde is understood to have placed Platts in the role.
