Marks & Spencer is to open in-store penny bazaars later this month selling Christmas stocking-fillers as well as goods such as mugs and knickers for 1p.
The Marks & Spencer bazaars will open for one day on Friday November 13, in all 300 main chain shops, 40 Simply Food stores and eight outlet shops.
M&S opened penny bazaars in May as part of its 125th birthday celebrations.
Although penny bazaar takings will go to local charities, the event is likely to drive footfall to M&S stores and customers will be given a voucher booklet entitling them to savings of 12.5% over the festive period.
M&S executive chairman Sir Stuart Rose said: “Our first penny bazaars went down a storm with our customers. We received unprecedented demand for the products and so much positive feedback that we’ve decided to do it again for Christmas.”
