Customers will be able to use the Perks app in Poundland stores across the UK

After being on trial in around 100 stores in the Isle of Wight, Northern Ireland and Scotland, Poundland Perks is now available to use across 800-plus stores in the UK.

Retail Week revealed the launch of the rewards scheme in Scotland in June, with the value retailer placing a focus on modernising its digital space and enhancing customer experience.

Poundland Perks aims to offer lower prices and exclusive discounts on brands such as Lynx, Pot Noodle, Tresemmé and Dove.

To bring functionality to UK shoppers, Poundland is investing around £20m in the rollout of state-of-the-art tills and faster and simpler self-checkouts.

Poundland director of digital Tom Hill said: “Today’s a really important day for our customers as we open up a new digital world that gives them the chance to save, earn and play through their smartphone.

“Thanks to our pilots in Scotland, Northern Ireland and on the Isle of Wight, we’ve created an app that’s convenient and easy for people to use in-store, with reward vouchers that help customers save even more.

“So far, we’ve already had over 500,000 customers sign up through our digital platforms and are looking forward to welcoming many more. We’re thrilled to be launching this across the UK today.”

The app is also going on a nationwide tour that will see its caravan cafe, supported by Nescafé, pitch up in towns and cities to encourage customers to download the app.

The roadshow will kick off again in the new year, visiting the north of England, Scotland and Northern Ireland.

The multimillion-pound investment also enables customers to use their Perks membership on poundland.co.uk.
